Gentiva Health Services Selects LawBase Matter Management Software

Denver, Colorado (March 31, 2006) — Synaptec Software, Inc. (www.lawbase.com) has announced that New York-based Gentiva (www.gentiva.com), the largest home health care provider in the U.S., has purchased LawBase Matter Management Software for their legal department. With more than 500 direct service delivery units within over 400 locations, Gentiva purchased LawBase in October 2005 and had the product installed and fully operational by December 2005.

Gentiva attorney Kevin Marrazzo oversaw the review of Gentiva’s options for the right practice management solution. According to Marrazzo, “We were highly motivated to find the right software. We had been using Excel to track our documents, which was becoming increasingly inadequate, especially when Gentiva acquired a company with 130 additional offices. We really needed to be able to track systems, create reminders and check status for our matters. We chose LawBase because it was the best solution at the right price.”

Marrazzo remarks that reasonable cost was one of many factors that led to the selection of LawBase. He notes that Gentiva preferred LawBase for its versatility, customizability, ease of use, and the fact that it could be installed quickly. Marrazzo explained, “Gentiva’s attorneys have now entered hundreds of cases into LawBase and are using the system daily to track cases, run reports and manage information. We are very happy with the performance of the software and the technical support has been excellent. As a result of how successful our LawBase implementation has been, we are considering expanding use of the technology in other departments as well as legal.”

Synaptec’s President Phil Homburger remarked, “Gentiva’s implementation of LawBase called for fast turnaround by our technical team. We are proud to be associated with Gentiva and we look forward to supporting them as they consider expanding the product to other departments within their company.”

LawBase Expands Integration with Handshake Software

Chicago, Illinois (March 30, 2005) – Today, Synaptec Software, Inc. announced the expansion of the integration between their LawBase and Handshake Software. LawBase is still the first matter management application to take advantage of Handshake’s unique relationship toolkit. The blending of these two applications will allow clients to take full advantage of the capabilities of both systems and has now expanded the interface announced in January, 2005.

Synaptec has now made it possible to automatically create Handshake web relationships by using the LawBase Screen Design utility. Information can be updated in either LawBase or Handshake and instantly viewed in the other application. You can also apply security to determine what views are accessible to users over the web. This allows you to share information with others such as your clients, outside counsel, etc.

LawBase Integration with Handshake Software

Denver, Colorado (January 31, 2005)—Today, Handshake Software, Inc. and Synaptec Software, Inc. announced the release of integration between their applications. LawBase becomes the first matter management application to take advantage of Handshake’s unique relationship toolkit. The blending of these two applications will allow clients to take full advantage of the capabilities of both systems including:

Access Information Anywhere: Since Handshake is portal independent, users can now access LawBase information, and other applications, from Microsoft Sharepoint®, Interwoven Worksite®, or Hummingbird DM5 via Sharepoint. Clients will have complete control over which information from LawBase is viewable over the Internet and can create separate views for different classes of users (i.e. The view for an internal employee may have more information than a view for a corporate counsel viewing the system).

Automatic Email Notifications: Using the Handshake Detective function, you can receive automatic emails with cases that meet certain criteria. For example, a General Counsel may want to get notification of all matters being handled with outside counsel when fees exceed ninety percent of the budget. In a law firm, a manager may want a daily email with all overdue tasks on matters within her department. This email will include links back to the matters in LawBase making it easy for users to explore the matter in greater detail.

Office 2003 IBF Capabilities: Handshake is the only vendor that allows you to access information from LawBase, or other applications, using Microsoft’s Information Bridge Framework (IBF). This allows a user while in Word or Outlook to instantly see information from the LawBase Matter in a panel linked to the document and drill down for additional detail. For example, while viewing an email from an associate with an update on a matter, the partner could also see important information about that matter thereby refreshing his recollection about that matter.
